After you arrive
Internet
IT can be a slightly complicated business when you first get to Cambridge, with a lot of different systems and services to get to grips with. Don’t worry though, we’ve got you covered with this quick and easy guide to all of the essentials:
How to internet really good — A simple guide
Register with a GP
A list of local GPs can be found here. You’ll need to ring your parents and get your NHS number if you don’t know it. Registering is super easy, the plodge may have some forms but if not just pop in to your chosen GP and fill them out. Shouldn’t take longer than about 30 minutes
Bike safety
A bike is a must for most students in Cambridge, but with narrow streets full of tourists it’s worth making sure you’re observing the highway code for cyclists. If you are cycling at night you must use both front and back lights — not only for your own safety but in order to avoid an on-the-spot fine from the police. Lights are available from the porter’s lodge if you don’t have any.
